一、一般过去时表示过去某一时候发生的动作或存在的状态。常与一般过去时连用的时间状语有:yesterday; the day before yesterday; ---ago;last---;in 1990,etc.
二、（一）be动词的一般过去时：
肯定句 ： 主语+be动词的一般过去时（was/were)
否定句： 主语+be动词的一般过去时（was/were)+not
一般疑问句：be动词的一般过去时（was/were)+主语
（二）there be 结构的一般过去时与动词的一般过去时的变化基本一致。
（三）一般动词的过去时：
肯定句 ：主语+动词的过去时
否定句：主语+did not+动词原形
一般疑问句：Did+主语+动词原形
